The legend of Mea Nak Prakanong

Her story was made in to a ghost movie many times, I'm not sure if it was because we can relate to this love story or not. Her husband ( Por Mak or Mr. Mak) and (Mea Nak or Mrs. Nak) lived on Prakanong Canal but one day they were parted because Por Mak had to service the country and go away as a soldier while she was pregnant. After many months, Mea Nak had a difficult childbirth and they both didn't make it... they both died but with her tremendous love for her husband, she waited for him still... after death.

When he came back from the service, he found his wife with a baby, they lived happily for a while. Mea Nak didn't want him to leave the house, fearing that the villagers will tell him that she was dead. But the secret couldn't be kept for long. He eventually knew and Mea Nak was mad and destructive.
Because she haunts so strongly they had to invited a monk known for his knowledge of magic and spells to stop her spirit... and he did.

Pun Neng which was a piece of her forhead was put a spell on so she couldn't harm anyone.

Somdej Pudthajarn Tho. The monk is very well respected until today.
Pan Neng - Rumors say that this actually exist
and is currently possibly own by a celebrity who claimed
that Mea Nak was his ancester.
we were asked to not film the actual Mea Nak alter, where people pay respect to her.

Lastly, respect to her , Mea Nak, I always consider her story a love story, rather than a ghost story.
